Cornerstone ran it's first Alpha course in autumn 2008. During that time many people, both familiar and new to church, enjoyed the freedom the course offers to talk openly about what they believe.

I had been coming to Cornerstone occasionally on a Sunday to support my son, Mark, although at the time had no faith at all.
I had heard about the Alpha Course, but had little idea what it was until one day whilst chatting to John Ingle, for some unknown (at the time) reason it suddenly struck me that I wanted to find out more about Christianity.
I turned up to the first meeting with some trepidation but was blown away by the enthusiasm and support of everyone involved with the course. As each week went by so I wanted to know more and more about Jesus.
Having completed the course I then went on to give my life to God and was then baptised. I now realise that this was clearly what God had planned for me, even if it did take Him 50 years! Since then my life has been transformed. A huge thank you for the encouragement and fellowship I received from everyone involved in Alpha."
"What Alpha offers, and what is attracting thousands of people, is permission, rare in secular culture, to discuss the big questions - life and death and their meaning."
The Guardian, London
"What distinguishes Alpha from other initiatives is the easy-going, relaxed feel of the proceedings - that, and its astonishing success."
The Times, London
"Many claim Alpha has changed their lives and appear genuinely happier for the experience."
Time Magazine
"Alpha makes Christianity relevant to modern life."
The Express, London

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The Alpha Course
Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions, and a day away.
The course is based around small groups of about 12 people, hosted by one or two leaders whose role is to facilitate and encourage discussion.
Each session begins with a meal or refreshments - a chance to get to know others in the small group. There is then a short talk, which looks at a different aspect of the Christian faith each week. This is followed by a time of discussion in the small groups, where everyone is welcome to contribute their opinion, ask questions and discuss with the rest of the group.
The emphasis is upon exploration and discovery in a relaxed and informal environment.
There is no charge for attending the Alpha course.
