Outreach plays a huge part in what we do as a church. Our heart is to reach those most in need in our community and throughout the world, bringing them love and hope in Jesus.

As many may already know, Cornerstone has an ongoing evangelism programme, lead by members of the church, which has taken place in a local Nursing Home and Prison, for some time.

We also have community outreach through Ready, Steady, Go! Pre-school, Messy Church and Adventuretime.

Elmwood Nursing Home

A dedicated team from Cornerstone has been visiting Elmwood Nursing Homes for many years.

No matter how isolated or neglected people seem it's never too late to offer them hope, especially hope in God and the news of His forgiveness and the eternal life we can have in Jesus. It is fantastic to see how over time the people we visit have responded, accepting Jesus as their Saviour.

The outreach takes place every fourth Sunday each month. We are always looking for more volunteers who could spare an hour on those Sunday afternoons to join the team.

If you feel you can encourage someone or just to listen you're most welcome to come along. We also like to welcome people to come and worship through hymns.

Prison Outreach

We are really grateful for the links we have with Highdown prison, and it has been a privilege to lead church services for the prisoners there. Some of the testimonies of hope and freedom have been really moving, and it has been great to hear the stories from the prison Chaplain about lives that have changed for the better whilst inside.

The Alpha Course

The Alpha Course

Do you have big life questions and want somewhere to explore if there is an answer…?  Do you want the opportunity to discuss Christianity and to have your views heard and valued?

The next ALPHA course is coming to Cornerstone Christian Centre later in the year.  The course normally runs on Sunday afternoons, starting at 5pm and finishing around 7pm. We would love to see you there.

Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions, and a day away.

The course is based around small groups of about 12 people, hosted by one or two leaders whose role is to facilitate and encourage discussion.

Each session begins with a meal or refreshments - a chance to get to know others in the small group. There is then a short talk, which looks at a different aspect of the Christian faith each week. This is followed by a time of discussion in the small groups, where everyone is welcome to contribute their opinion, ask questions and discuss with the rest of the group.

The emphasis is upon exploration and discovery in a relaxed and informal environment.

There is no charge for attending the Alpha course.

If you’d like to just take a look and find out more about what the course involves, please visit the Alpha website here

“What Alpha offers, and what is attracting thousands of people, is permission, rare in secular culture, to discuss the big questions – life and death and their meaning.”

The Guardian, London.
